The LA Kings

It was a rough 2014 season for the Los Angeles Kings. And after three long playoff runs with two Stanley Cup wins and a conference final loss, it makes sense that the Kings were a little tired and run down. Only normal for a dynasty that has battled it out for three long consecutive post seasons. The Kings couldn’t even make the playoffs in 2014, but that leaves no reason to count them out this year. The Kings will sure bounce back for their hard core fans of Los Angeles! The Kings will be bringing back a lot of the greats that helped lead them to the Stanley Cup just two years ago. Players such as Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, Dustin Brown, Marian Gaborik, Drew Doughtry and Eric Cernak! They will all be led by Kings’ leader Anze Kopitar who led the Kings in points. The Kings have also added a new wingman to bring in some goals and that is Milan Lucic, a former Boston Bruin. The ten year veteran should bring some great leadership and a few points to this team that is ready to push onto another post season run. And with Goaltender Jonathon Quick, the Kings should always be counted in to win!

The thrill of a National Hockey League game is like nothing else! The rumble of the crowd, the sounds of the skates sliding against the ice, and the sticks banging and slashing against each other! It’s like no other sport out there. By far the most intense game to see live! And when it’s a Kings game, there is no doubting the excitement that is Los Angeles sports. Hockey may not be the most popular sport in the U.S. but it is for sure the most exciting and in the city of Los Angeles… The Kings have the most loyal fans! They will be hosting some great rivals as well! The team across the other side of Los Angeles County, over in Anaheim… the Anaheim Ducks! And if you’re a diehard Kings fans…. You know its WHACK to say QUACK! The Kings and Ducks fans have a heated rivalry of who owns Southern California. And while the Ducks have managed to pull out some better regular season records, it’s the Kings who have fared better in the post season with two out of three championship wins in the past three years, but the Ducks just can’t manage to get to the top in the post season. The San Jose Sharks are another hated foe as they too bring in a battle of California—a state that at one time was limited in hockey action now has three teams in the NHL. And all three always manage to pull in an exciting battle! It’s time to head to the rink. Get your KINGS TICKETS now and watch some amazing battles as Koptar, Quick, and the newest arrival Lucic come into Staples Center to battle for another championship run! Get your Kings tickets now!

LA Kings History:

The Los Angeles Kings came into existence in 1967 along with five other teams as the NHL expanded. The other five teams were the California Seals, The Minnesota North Stars, the Phiiladelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the St. Louis Blues. The Kings took on the dark blue and gold colors, in resemblance to the Lakers of the NBA and shared the same arena with the Lakers—The ‘Fabulous’ Forum. While the Kings had a few playoff pushes and winning seasons, they never seem to rise to the top of the National Hockey League. Even in the 1970’s when they traded for Marcel Dionne in 1975. Dionne would later be a hall of fame player and in his long stint with the Kings he led the team in points, helped them win a few games but never did they achieve success like they would later in the future. The 1980’s were a time of hope for the Kings as they traded Dionne away and found a few new rising stars such as Jimmy Carson and Luc Robitaille. Luc and Jimmy would be the new faces of the franchise until 1987 when Bruce McNall purchased the Kings and did the remarkable! In 1988 he made the biggest trade in NHL history and brought in the best player in the league… Wayne Gretzky! A hero and legend in Canada, mainly Edmonton, where he led the Oilers to a few championships and became a hero! Gretzky’s arrival to Los Angeles did the same! Wayne Gretzky became a southern California legend. The Kings changed their image… with silver and black colors. No longer imitating the Lakers and now resembling the Los Angeles Raiders. The Kings colors became a national icon along with Gretzky. The Kings became a contending team and in 1991, an older Gretzky led the Kings to an amazing run at the Stanley Cup, but only to lose to the Montreal Canadians in a disappointing loss… the 4-1 series was a huge disappointment. The Kings were surprisingly blown out as they could not get passed super star goalie Patrick Roy. Although, their playoff push was not a success, Gretzky’s stay was. His time in Los Angeles made hockey relevant and hockey expanded to the west coast with the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks. A movie based on the Ducks became a sensation and there was even a cartoon based on three of the biggest sports icons, Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson and… Wayne Gretzky, the cartoon was called Pro Stars.

Gretzky’s stay seemed like forever, but it wasn’t. In 1996, Gretzky was not happy with the shape of the Kings and was traded to the St. Louis Blues and the era of Wayne was over. But the Kings did stumble into some great seasons later on. With the emergence of Ziggy Palffry, Sean O’Donnell, and Bryan Smolinski! The later 90’s and entering into the early 2000’s the Kings became good again. Hockey was still relevant, but Los Angeles Hockey never saw a deep playoff push even though they had some great talent! It wasn’t until 2012, led by Anze Kopitar, did the Kings make the post season and onto a Stanley Cup win against the New Jersey Devils. The Kings dominated the 2012 playoffs, as an eight seed. They defeated both the one and two seeds and skipped into the championship. The next year they were not successful defending their title but went on in 2014 with another championship in another miraculous year! The Kings were down 3-0 and went on winning the next four games against their rival San Jose Sharks in a wild playoff series. The Kings are now two time champions and are on their way to continue this dynasty in 2015. So get your KINGS TICKETS now!

Hockey is intense and everyone should check out exciting hockey action. Get your KINGS TICKETS now!

LA Kings Fun Facts:

The Los Angeles Kings traded Wayne Gretzky in 1996 to the St. Louis Blues in a desperation trade. The Players they received were Roman Vopat, Patrice Tardif, a draft pick that would later be Matt Zultek, and Craig Johnson. None of these four players would have a career with the Kings and Johnson was the only player of the four to have a long NHL career.
